The Story of…SPECIAL EDITION AEGIS
In and around the mid-summer months of the year 2120 in the Dimension called Centra, a discovery was made.
On one of the dozens of tiny moons of the planet Primus, this one named Oor, was found a heap of wreckage.
The debris of what appeared to be a small salvage shuttle made up the core of what was a larger crash site. The scene was discovered by Scorch’s company of miners and shortly after, a team of ROC scientists quarantined the area. The wings had been shredded during the rapid descent and the bodies of the crew were apparently disintegrated due to the breach in the ship’s hull prior to impact. Any other scattered pieces that remained of the shuttle were damaged and burnt beyond recognition. There was however one exception.
A large section of paneling remained completely intact. It was void of any visible signs of damage. The paneling was carefully secured and shipped to Centra Prime for further research. The test results were startling to say the least. There were minute traces of Essence found embedded in the paneling.
As if that discovery had not been incredible enough, downloading the ships data log explained exactly where this shuttle had been: the birthplace and home of the most valued element in the Centra Dimension. It had been to the Dark Matter region.
The data log explained that this was a salvage ship that had belonged to pirates, space raiders out to make a tremendous score. The ship was named The Scamp, and had headed blindly into the highly unstable Dark Matter region. The deciphered data log explained that the ship had in fact reached the region, but as they entered, an unknown pulse of energy interrupted the recording. The rest of The Scamps voyage would forever remain a mystery.
While the authorities explained to the media that The Scamp tore apart during its rapid, out of control descent into the atmosphere of Oor, other investigators debated these claims, explaining that it was quite clear that the damage to the shuttle occurred during its travels into the Dark Matter region, not during its crash landing.
“If that were the case, then who flew the shuttle back?” reporters questioned.
That answer too would remain a history. For the time being, at least.
Meanwhile, investigation and studies on the piece of paneling taken from The Scamp continued. The fascinating material was malleable, yet resisted all damaging effects, even from nuclear sources. Strangely enough, strains of Plague virus seemed to actually recoil when exposed to the paneling.
It was the bright idea of Lance At-Las, second-in-command of the Ramparts of Centra that this paneling be tempered into a protective suit of armor. Christened the Advanced BattleGear, it was designed to fit a soldier capable of utilizing its defensive powers to their truest potential — it would be donned by the captain of the ROC forces himself. The Advanced BattleGear would be worn by Aegis, leader of the men of Centra Prime.
Aegis would go on use this new suit of armor to battle the Plague infested zombies led by Murdok and the demonic forces of Godsend in the months that followed. Hoping…praying that this new, special addition would help him in rescuing his long lost love Trisis.
Time will tell.
