![]() What is Champions of the Galaxy and Legends of Wrestling? Legends of Wrestling is only the greatest wrestling card game using the top superstars of wrestling history! From wrestling's first great champion, Frank Gotch, up through the Golden Age with Gorgeous George, and to the modern era with the Road Warriors, Jimmy Snuka---and even the Sandman and Sabu---Legends of Wrestling is the Classic Past of Wrestling! What is the secret of their success? We care about our fans. They're the core of COTG and Legends of Wrestling madness! Plus, the Champions of the Galaxy gaming system (it's the same gaming system used for Legends of Wrestling) is the greatest ever devised for a wrestling game. After 20+ years of success, it's proven itself. Champions of the Galaxy is also the ultimate in escapism. As Tom says, "Champions of the Galaxy is more than just a game, it's a way of life. The GWF is a very real place to me and those who play." You can play alone or with friends. Each game edition contains a pack of wrestler playing cards and a game book. The introductory games include everything you'll need to start your GWF and LWF feds, including instruction book, game charts, and dice. What are the GWF and LWF? GWF stands for Galactic Wrestling Federation. It's professional wrestling's incredible federation of the future! You'll run the GWF as the main promoter and booker. The history of the GWF is described in the introductory game edition. There are two 'spin-off' federations as well - the CPC/POW and the aCe. The same with the LWF, which stands for Legends of Wrestling Federation. What is a "Promoter"? It's our name for a loyal game player. It's also the name of the game's official newsletter. How do I play? Let's say you're playing Champions of the Galaxy (although Legends of Wrestling works the exact same way) and you decide to have a match between Wolf and Thantos. You'll use each wrestler's playing card for the match. Let's say you roll on Wolf's card and the result is a running clothesline. Next you'll roll on Thantos' card to find out how badly Thantos is hurt or whether Thantos counters the move with a move of his own. You'll have some tough choices during a match! Do you want Wolf to throw Thantos into the ropes or is it safer to throw him into the turnbuckle and try to smash him with a shoulder ram? Do you throw Thantos out of the ring and risk an out-of-control brawl or keep the match in the ring? Do you want a manager or other wrestlers to interfere in the match or hold back? Your choices might decide the outcome! The match is over when Wolf or Thantos wins by pin, disqualification or count out (there is also the chance of a double disqualification). The matches are realistic and move fast in real-time. Yes. Any special match that you see in professional wrestling can be played with Champions of the Galaxy and Legends of Wrestling. Rules for several special matches are available with our introductory box sets. Should game editions be bought in order? For Champions of the Galaxy, the answer is yes. Each game edition represents a year in GWF (Galactic Wrestling Federation) history. The GWF is a realistic federation, with new wrestlers entering and old wrestlers retiring. Wrestlers even get updated as they age! Game fans find the characters in the GWF to be as real to them as wrestlers in the WWE or any real federation. Game editions for Legends of Wrestling can be bought in any order. Do I have to use the game storylines or can I make up my own? You can do anything you want with the Champions of the Galaxy and Legends of Wrestling! It's your federation! The storylines provided in the game booklets by Tom for COTG are guidelines. Some players follow Tom's stories religiously and others run their feds in unique ways adding their own personal touch. Should I buy all the game editions at one time? It's up to you. Two advantages are that it costs less to buy them at one time and you'll have more wrestlers. How often do new game editions come out? For Champions of the Galaxy it's twice to three times a year, around March, July, and November. At the time of this writing there is no set time for Legends of Wrestling releases, though there will be at least one new edition a year. Who created the games? Tom Filsinger created the gaming system and concepts used for Champions of the Galaxy and Legends of Wrestling. Tom has also written all the main COTG game editions and many of the secondary editions like Classics and others. He diligently oversees everything having to do with COTG and LOW, a virtual monarch of game universes. Tom added a new writer to his stable in 2000 when Mark Ashby was brought on board to write the CPC/POW game editions. Kris Osk was hired in 2005 as the writer of the aCe game editions. Tom also gets help with the LOW game editions from Chad Olson, Tim Dalton, and Stu Lowry. Tom is ever-loyal to the game and fans saying that continuing to write COTG keeps his feet "firmly planted in the sky." Tom has been lucky to collaborate with some exceptionally talented artists on Champions of the Galaxy. The first game artist was Tom's friend, Chuck Carter. Chuck drew the original game up to War Games 2093 and is also known for his work on the popular fantasy CD-ROM, Myst. Next was Larry Snelly, who took the artistic reigns from Sudden Death 2094 to Revolution 2097, including tag-team work with Mike Gustovich (of Marvel Comics fame) on Classics 2079. The most prolific Champions of the Galaxy artist is Brian Michael Bendis, one of the biggest names in the comic book field. Brian has worked on everything from Civil War 2099 to CPC 2107 with many Classics editions thrown in for good measure! The current regular artists are Darryl Banks, When were the Introductory Box Sets released? While Champions of the Galaxy had been around since 1986, the new boxed version was released in 1999. And while Legends of Wrestling had been around since 2001, the box set was released in 2003.
What are THE FILES handbooks? It had to happen! Game fans have wanted a handbook that chronicles the history of the GWF and they've got it! The GWF Files features listings for all game characters (over 200 total), including biographies, heights, weights, home planets, and much more! The handbook also features all kinds of neat official info that loyal game fans crave, plus previously unreleased material such as game art, photos, and more! It's the major book event of the year! The first edition of The GWF Files was officially released at GalactiCon 2000 in
What about the Legends of Wrestling game? It all started in the summer of 2001 with the release of Legends of Wrestling playing cards for King Kong Bundy and other wrestling superstars. Filsinger Games released the Introductory Box Set for Legends of Wrestling in 2003. With Legends of Wrestling, the successful Champions of the Galaxy gaming system has been applied to real wrestlers and celebrates the colorful history of professional wrestling! It's a chance for hardcore wrestling fans to become the promoter and booker for a dream federation of the greatest names in wresting history! Filsinger Games introduced game fans to the Future of Wrestling with Champions of the Galaxy. The next step in taking over the game industry will be showcasing the Classic Past with the Legends of Wrestling game! |
